A beautiful and historic market town on the edge of the Wolds. For anyone interested in history, Alford Manor House, dating back to 1611 is said to be the largest thatched manor house in the country showing off its astonishing Georgian & Victorian design. It also has the magnificent Five Sailed Windmill, said to be the finest working Windmill in the UK.
Caistor is a pretty Georgian/Victorian market town. A must see for anyone visiting the area. It has 56 Grade 2 Listed buildings, 2 Grade I listed buildings and 2 medieval fishponds. An architectural dream. The 147 mile long Viking Way walk runs through the centre of Caistor.
Examination of a Lincolnshire map shows Woodhall Spa to be dead centre of the county and it is widely regarded as one of its most attractive villages. Woodhall Spa is renowned for its relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. Amongst its numerous attractions is the famous Kinema in the woods, a cinema in a picturesque setting that is referred to by the locals as “Flicks in the Sticks”! During World War 2 the RAF requisitioned local hotels to hide military equipment.
